Learn how to craft with bark from our Northern Forests to create beautiful and functional baskets. We will use spruce, elm, ash, and willow bark to create folded bark baskets with a leather handle. Students will learn about tree identification, harvesting ethically and responsibly, and the necessary skills and principles to create their own bark baskets now and in the future.
$100 per person. Class size limited to 12 participants.Â

Justin Sutera is a nature connection mentor, wilderness skills instructor, healer, and craftsman. He studied Conservation Biology in undergraduate, and outside of formal school has studied at the Tracker School and Wilderness Fusion. Justin is particularly passionate about natural basketry, as well as bow making. If he's not in the studio crafting he's likely out in the woods tracking, wandering, or hunting.
Justin has been a primitive skills and naturalist educator for 15 years and teaches workshops in a variety of skills from hide tanning to basket making, to shelter building and more.
Justin's baskets are made using traditional techniques from natural materials found in the local area.
